UK Regulator Ofcom Grants Early 4G Rollout to Everything Everywhere

Way back in February I wrote about the state of, and lack of, the UK’s LTE mobile broadband services.

Way back in February I wrote about the state of, and lack of, the UK’s LTE mobile broadband services. Originally Ofcom had stated that it expected LTE services to be fully deployed and operational between 2013-2014.

As it turns out Ofcom have announced their approval of operator Everything Everywhere to begin rolling out LTE services as of September 11th.

4G LTE iPhones Being Tested

BGR has obtained evidence of an internal iOS test build from one of Apple’s major carrier partners, and buried in the firmware is a property list (.plist file) for LTE.

BGR has obtained evidence of an internal iOS test build from one of Apple’s major carrier partners, and buried in the firmware is a property list (.plist file) for LTE. This doesn’t necessarily mean every Apple device that’s about to be released will feature an embedded 4G LTE modem, but it certainly means Apple isn’t sitting on the sidelines as 4G LTE networks continue to roll out around the world.

4G LTE: AT&T Is Working To Deploy 4th Generation Technology In 2011

AT&T is currently working to deploy this new 4th Generation Technology some time in 2011.

It seems that AT&T is working to deploy 4th generation technology in 2011. An internal AT&T document reads: ‘AT&T is currently working to deploy this new 4th Generation Technology some time in 2011. This will take us to the next level of higher speed for our wireless data networks. The Chart on page 4 shows the evolution path in terms of speed and the map shows our 700 MHz footprint for GA.
