Using new technology, Google Earth presents 45 degree aerial imagery for mobile map devices that builds on expansive ideas they’ve used since 2006.

Using new technology, Google Earth presents 45 degree aerial imagery for mobile map devices that builds on expansive ideas they’ve used since 2006. This new technology allows for textured renderings, 3D cityscapes and buildings that take on distinct and unique characteristics to that particular city. By the end of the year, Google aims to have 3D coverage for metropolitan areas with a combined population of 300 million people.

YouTube Adds ‘Play in 3D’ Option To 1080p Videos

Starting today, YouTube viewers have the options to watch any 1080p video in 3D.

 

Starting today, YouTube viewers have the options to watch any 1080p video in 3D. To achieve this effect, YouTube manipulates elements like color and spatial layout and they also let the user to make certain tweaks to the 3D playback. The feature is available in the ‘Quality’ settings on the bottom menu bar of each video.

By now, we’ve grown accustomed to this virtual Mata Hari, and her pleasant monotone. But now, Siri’s got a face thanks to Shapeways, a 3D printing service and online marketplace.

Ever since the iPhone 4S was released back in October, the device’s voice-controlled virtual assistant app has captured the attention of users and non-users alike. Pic3D Film Brings Glasses-Free 3D To The iPhone And iPad [video]

At the 3D and Virtual Reality Expo in Tokyo, the Japanese company demoed its Pic3D sheet, which converts your Windows-based desktop or laptop, or iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into a 3D display.

At the 3D and Virtual Reality Expo in Tokyo, the Japanese company demoed its Pic3D sheet, which converts your Windows-based desktop or laptop, or iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into a 3D display. The sheet uses a lenticular lens system instead of a parallax barrier for a smoother, more consistent image, yielding a reported 90-percent transmission level and 120-degree field of view.

Music Boxel: Naked-Eye 3D Display And Web Socket Based Multi User Interaction [video]

The latest installation/project by Aircord, building on their 3D projected screens, includes a Naked-eye 3D Display with Web Socket based multi user interaction.

Back in July 2010, we showed you how, using a custom app and crystallography, Aircord Labs from Japan took iPad’s display into the third dimension. The latest installation/project by Aircord, building on their 3D projected screens, includes a Naked-eye 3D Display with Web Socket based multi user interaction. The setup works around allowing multiple users to scan QRcode, be redirected to a website accessible via mobile Safari browser and interacting simultaneously with a 3d display by adding a voxel to make a trigger on a timeline of virtual music box.
