How To Scan QR Codes With iOS 7’s Stock Camera.app

decodecamera7-1

If you’re scanning QR codes on a regular basis and you wish the default camera.app in iOS 7 would allow you to scan them instead of installing a 3rd party app you should check out Decode Camera for iOS7 – a new Cydia tweak that adds QR and Matrix code scanning functionality to the default camera.app in iOS 7.

The tweak adds a new toggle button labeled ‘QR ON’ to the interface of the default camera.app in iOS 7. When turned on and colored yellow you are ready to scan QR codes with the default camera.app ( how many times do I have to say ‘default camera.app’ ? ). When the button says ‘QR OFF’ and colored white, you will no longer be able to scan QR codes.

When scanning a code, all you need to do is point the camera at it and allow it to focus. The camera will auto-detect the code for you and you’ll get a pop-up screen saying “Scan result has been copied to the clipboard.”

There are no options to configure with this tweak, just install and enjoy. Decode Camera for iOS7 is available for $1.50 on Cydia Store via BigBoss repo…
