HowTo: Jailbreak iPhone Firmware 3.1 ( Mac )

The mighty iPhone DevTeam just released their Pwnage tool for iPhone Firmware 3.1 but unfortunately is for Mac users only. They also said that ” redsn0w for Mac OS X and Windows will follow sometime in the near future, please don’t bug us about it – we’ll release when we have something ready.”Bad news for iPhone 3Gs and iTouch 2G/3G users, because this release does not support this devices.

GeoHot: Purplera1n Is Dead, I Recommend RedSn0w

Just when the “war” between the iPhone Dev-Team and GeoHot seemed to be over, GeoHot announced that Purplera1n is dead, and it’s not working with iPhone firmware 3.0.1 . He didnt hesitate to attack the devteam in some way, by saying ” I code to make things simple, hacky, and fast. Dev codes to make things proper, slow, and complicated; redsn0w works OOTB.”

Netflix: Official Streaming On The iPhone?

Netflix, ahead of pay-TV providers, continues extending its own “TV Everywhere” strategy to more devices.The company will soon offer the Watch Instantly video-streaming feature on Apple iPhones and iPod Touch devices and the Nintendo Wii gaming console, according to an industry executive familiar with Netflix’s plans. (Netflix wouldn’t confirm the info, with a rep saying it declines to comment on “rumors or speculation.”)

WiSDK: Confirmation That The Windows iPhone SDK Is FAKE

Now the dude that made all that buzz posted on their page that this is a FAKE. Dudes got 381,511 emails in 5 days (52 emails / minute). The purpose for this “project” was far from fooling peopple tho. Their goal was to show Apple how many people would be interesting in one of these official development tools.

PurpleSn0w Source Code Available To Download

I wrote a payload and delivery system in a day. And it’s an awesome payload. Ideally we’d like to patch the lock out of flash, but with the apparently proper sig checks, that isn’t going to happen. So purplesn0w is the next best thing. I copy the page I want to patch to an unused region of memory. In memory I patch it. Then, using the MMU, I map the flash page out and remap the patched memory page in it’s place.
