Google Maps Ported To iOS 6 by Ryan Petrich [video]

With iOS 6, Apple has removed two Google apps that have been pre-loaded with every iOS device since the original iPhone: Maps and YouTube. While Google has already released a standalone app for YouTube, Apple is pushing their own in-house built maps for iOS 6.

But just because Apple’s maps are stunning and come with all sorts of bells and whistles, it doesn’t mean that they are perfect – read why here.

So far there’s only one workaround that lets us use Google Maps on iOS 6 ( READ HOW TO: Get Google Maps on iOS 6 ), but today Ryan Petrich has posted a video where he shows a port of iOS 5’s Google Maps to iOS 6.

To showcase the port, Ryan is using an iPhone 3GS updated to iOS 6 and tethered jailbreaked. He notes that the port is still crashy and cannot be distributed to the public yet, but it mostly works.

IF such a port will ever be distributed to the public, we need to see a untethered jailbreak first for iOS 6.
