When was the last time you’ve loaded an iOS/Apple related site and didn’t read about a new Apple patent? Seems like they are trying to get something new patented everyday. Patently Apple presents a detailed summary of patent applications with associated graphics for journalistic news purposes as each such patent application is revealed by the U.S. Patent & Trade Office, every… single… day.
So, it’s only natural to assume that Apple is the ‘patent kings’ , right? Wrong! According to this chart ( based on an estimation of Mobile Communications Related Patents that have been granted by the USPTO and European Patent Office ) Apple isn’t even in the top 30.
Of course, this chart doesn’t take a look at the quality or the value of the patents. Just the quantity…
