Like it or not, Macs just work straight out of the box. But over time, your computer can get sluggish. This can happen because of a hardware bottleneck ( usually not enough RAM, or slow/failing HDD. always keep in mind that with HHDs it’s a matter of WHEN it fails not IF it fails ) or it’s simply a matter of OS maintenance ( corrupt permissions, clean HDD of leftover files, unused apps etc ). How do you know it’s time for a check-up? Simple, you get way too many spinning beach balls.
How to fix it? You can use something like OnyX. But before you do that, especially if you have no idea what you’re doing, you should use the Mac Performance Troubleshooting Chart.
