iPhone OS 3.0 Episode IV: HowTo Split iPod Into Music & Video or Vice-Versa

  • SSH into your iphone
  • Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/
  • Download the file M68AP.plist
  • Open the file using a text editor or a plist editor
  • Change unified-ipod from true to false (or vice versa)
  • It should be Boolean Key = unified-ipod / Boolean Value = false
  • Save and upload the file to the same directory that it was originally in
  • Go onto the iPhone and respring
  • Now you will have a separate app for music and a separate app for videos
