When it comes to Apple accessories, Twelve South’s products are among the best in the game. That’s why, if you’re in the market for a charging dock, you should start with the HiRise 2 Deluxe.

Recently, Twelve South has released the HiRise 2 – a redesigned charging dock with new color options and improved stability for larger devices.

Compared to the first gen HiRise, the HiRise 2 comes with rounded curves to match your iPhone 6 or iPhone 7 and the base of the dock is now double the weight of the original which makes the dock more stable for larger devices.

Speaking of devices, the HiRise 2 can dock and charge any lightning port iPhone, including the iPhone 7 Plus and lighting port iPad, including the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. You can also use pretty much any case you want, and you’ll still be able to dock your device.

If iPhone and iPad compatibility is not enough, you can also use the HiRise 2 to dock and charge your Apple TV Siri Remote, Apple Magic Keyboard, Apple Magic Trackpad 2 or Apple Pencil (with adapter).

The dock comes in two models: HiRise 2 and HiRise 2 Deluxe. The difference between the regular and the deluxe model is that the deluxe model includes a MFi-certified lighting cable and a micro-USB cable. Of course, the price differs between the two models with the regular model being cheaper.

Today we’re going to take a look at the HiRise 2 Deluxe model in silver.

What’s in the box?

The package is beautifully done, with attention to details. It’s comparable with unboxing a new iPhone or iPad.

When you’re opening the box, you’ll be be greeted by the owner’s guide which thanks you on behalf of the company for choosing the HiRise 2.

Take out the owner’s guide and you’ll see the base of the stand, and a smaller box.

We’re going to set aside the base of the HiRise 2 for now and take a look at the “mystery box”. Inside the small black box you will find everything you need to build your stand: Lightning and micro-USB clips, Lightning and micro-USB cables and the rear support.

How to build the HiRise 2

Assuming you will use the HiRise 2 with an iOS device you will need the base of the stand, “rear support”, “lightning cable” and “lightning cable clips”.

Take out the “rear support” and attach it to the base by unscrewing the rear support screw.

NOTE: you can slide the rear support back on forth on the stand to accommodate any device ( with or without case ).

Next turn your base upside down, and gently pull the plastic tab to remove the base cap. This will allow you to snake the cable into place and hide it with the cap.

Now take your Lightning cable and the lightning cable clips. There are three different clips that will allow the tip of the lightning cable to stick out a certain length to accommodate the case you might be using.

Now push down the clip into the base, and you’re done. The final product should look something like this.

Reading this article might seem that building the HiRise 2 is a complex process, but it’s definitely not. It will take you maybe 2 minutes to put everything together.

High quality packaging and materials. The HiRise 2 will perfectly compliment your iOS devices and Apple accessories, and it will look great next to your MacBook or iMac. All in all this is a fantastic stand/dock that comes at a great price.
