Google is working to extend and spread their services and they sent over 100,000 QR codes to businesses across the U.S. are being recognized as a “Favorite Place on Google” based on Google users’ interactions with local business listings.

You can use QuickMark to take a photo and decipher the QR code, and you will receive all the info about that business. You can also read reviews, see if other customers were satisfied with the service etc. QuickMark has an agreement with Google and now the app is free for the first 40,000 people that will download it.Google currently covers 9000 US cities and may soon arrive in Europe.

PS: QR codes are not readable just on iPhone. They work with various handhelds like Nokia.
