Fring Brings Video Calls To The iPhone

APP

If you are unfamiliar with Fring, it’s a messaging application that integrates with everything from Skype and Google Talk to Facebook and AIM. Today Fring updated their iPhone app, and they bring video calls to the iPhone. The app was already accepted to the appstore, and it works great.

Unfortunately the video calls feature is not bi-directional. You can only accept video calls from your friends and family using a computer. This is a problem is a physical one , because the iPhone doesn’t have a front camera, and it seems that it won’t work even if you are using 3rd party accessories like the 3G videoconferencing kit. Fring allows usage of the app only on WiFi, but you are on a jailbroken iPhone, you can use 3G unrestrictor app.

I just spent like 40 mins in a video conference with Zeke ( i was on my macbook pro, and he was using Fring ) , and he said the image was clear and no lag even though he was moving around the house constantly  . You can download Fring for free from the appstore.
